camping
club
A private membership for people who believe that a special camping place deserves to become a regular part of their life.
Some places just get under your skin.
Camp Candy Cap was built for people who understand that the best outdoor experiences aren't one-offs — they're relationships. With a piece of land. With the seasons. With other people who feel the same way about being outside. The Candy Cap Club exists to make coming back easy, affordable, and increasingly meaningful the longer you're a part of it.
A community of regulars
Members share fire pits, trade mushroom finds, and swap stories at the communal kitchen. The people you meet here in November you'll probably see again in March. That's the idea.
Your own corner of the Mendocino Coast
Members book directly with us, skip the platform fees, and — at the Elder and Chief levels — have their name carved permanently into the land. This place can become yours in a way that no rental ever could.
The land rewards familiarity
The mushrooms fruit differently every year. The coastal fog changes the landscape. The tide pools reveal themselves at the right hour to the people who know when to look. Every visit deepens your relationship to the land.
Skills, not just scenery
Membership includes discounts on Practical Intelligence programming — foraging walks, fire building, coastal identification, tide pool exploration — taught by instructors who know these specific woods and this specific coast.

Your Mark on the Land
The Signpost
Standing in Candy Cap Meadow, the Signpost is covered in wooden signs pointing in every direction — each one carved with a member's name, their hometown, and how far away it is. It's a quiet record of everyone who helped build this place by committing to it. Your sign is permanent. It points home.
The Tree of Secrets
In the communal dining area, there is an old shore pine unlike any other on the property. Its trunk and lower branches are lined with small wooden shelves — each one belonging to a Chief member. Leave a stone you found on the beach, a photograph, a pinecone, a small carved figure. The tree becomes a cabinet of curiosities, a living museum of the people who have camped here. What you put on it is up to you.
